When a Hand is not Just a Hand
 
We are all familiar with the word “hand”. Let’s learn some words that use “hand” as the prefix.

a short book that gives information, guidance or instructions

a pair of metal rings that can be locked around a person’s wrist

the amount that a hand can hold

made by hand, rather than by machine
 
handout
a sheet or sheets of paper containing information that you distribute to people attending a speech, lecture or meeting
 
handset
the part of a telephone that you hold near your ear and mouth
 
handshake
a gripping and shaking of right hands by two individuals to meet or leave each other or when they have made an agreement
 
hands-on
doing something yourself rather than just talking about it or telling other people to do it
 
handwriting
